Modeling Stream Flow Extremes under Non-time- Stationary Conditions

چکیده
This paper provides information on extreme value modeling of stream flow extremes from three rivers in the New York City Metropolitan Area using generalized extreme value distribution (GEV). GEV parameters including location, scale, and shape are analyzed to get an appropriate minimum window size for stationary conditions, and then the time series analysis of GEV parameters are performed by using this window size.

Spatially Penalized Regression for Extremes Dependence Analysis and Prediction: Case of Precipitation Extremes
The inability to predict precipitation extremes under nonstationary climate remains a crucial science gap. Precipitation is not a state-variable within climate models, exhibits space-time heterogeneities, and is subject to thresholds and intermittences. Atmospheric variables in the spatiotemporal neighborhood, like temperature, humidity and updraft velocity, are often better predicted than prec...
متن کاملMathematical Modeling of Potential Flow over a Rotating Cylinder (RESEARCH NOTE)
Potential flow over rotating cylinder is usually solved by the singularity method. However,in this paper a mathematical solution is presented for this problem by direct solution of the Laplace’sequation. Flow over the cylinder was considered non-viscous. Neumann and Dirichlet boundaryconditions were used on the solid surfaces and in the infinity, respectively. Because of non-viscous flow, the La...
متن کاملMODELING OF GROUNDWATER FLOW OVER SLOPING BEDS IN RESPONSE TO CONSTANT RECHARGE AND STREAM OF VARYING WATER LEVEL
This paper presents an analytical model characterizing unsteady groundwater flow in an unconfined aquifer resting on a sloping impervious bed. The aquifer is in contact with a constant water level at one end. The other end is connected to a stream whose level is increasing form an initial level to a final level at a known exponentially decaying function of time. Moreover, the aquifer is repleni...
متن کاملClimate change and watershed mercury export: a multiple projection and model analysis.
Future shifts in climatic conditions may impact watershed mercury (Hg) dynamics and transport. An ensemble of watershed models was applied in the present study to simulate and evaluate the responses of hydrological and total Hg (THg) fluxes from the landscape to the watershed outlet and in-stream THg concentrations to contrasting climate change projections for a watershed in the southeastern co...
